If you have been having a similar issue or any other issue with the Teckin in Smart Plug, we have listed many ways to help you troubleshoot such issues.

These Teckin smart plug troubleshooting steps will certainly spot the cause of your troubles and will let you fix them without much effort.

1. Teckin Smart Plug Not Connecting with Home Network

This issue has been found quite common in the Teckin Smart Plugs recently. There can be multiple reasons that can be causing this issue.

For example, a wrong Wi-Fi channel may have been connected, and the router is placed too far, the internet is interrupted at a particular moment.

To fix certain issues like these, you need to ensure that you have the bandwidth of 2.4 GHz and not 5.0 GHz.

As we know, all of the smart devices need a 2.4 GHz band channel for connecting. Hence, to check that your Wi-Fi bandwidth is set to 2.4 GHz, go to the router’s admin panel with the help of the web interface.

After that, you can go to the channel settings and then switch to 2.4 GHz bandwidth from the options. Once you have switched the bandwidth, you can restart your router and try to connect again.

If you own a dual-band router, then in such a case, you should follow a certain procedure for Teckin smart plug troubleshooting:

  1. It would help if you made sure that the router was off.
  2. Create a 2.4 GHz mobile hotspot with the same credentials as the Wi-Fi router.
  3. Connect your smart plug to your hotspot, shut down the hotspot and turn on the router.

Doing so will enable the smart device to connect successfully to the 2.4 GHz bandwidth of the router.

2. Teckin Skill Don’t Work with Amazon Alexa

This is yet another reason for such a cause. In addition, this is why several users reported troubles with the Teckin skills not working on the Alexa.

When teckin skills do not work on Amazon Alexa, users won’t be able to use the voice command features in controlling the smart plug, which could be quite taxing. To fix this, you can follow certain troubleshooting procedures we have mentioned below.

To resolve this problem, you need to open the Alexa application, clear all the skills, and then log out of the application. After this:

  1. Go to your phone’s settings and navigate the app settings to find the Alexa application.
  2. Select the Alexa app and then go to the storage options, now click on “clear all data”, and you are good to go. Once you have cleared all the data, you can restart and login to the Alexa app after the phone has been rebooted.
  3. Start adding the skill again and then try to use it with the Teckin smart plug.

If this method doesn’t work for you, we suggest resetting the smart device to default factory settings. Now, pair it with the Teckin mobile application again.

However, this entire procedure can be time-consuming as it will need you to configure your smart device all over again from square one.

3. Unable to Pair the Smart Plug

Lastly, most of the users have also been experiencing trouble pairing their Teckin smart plug with the mobile application. More often than not, it becomes quite taxing to configure the smart device when you cannot even connect it to your smartphone.

This bug with the Teckin application is usually not that severe but minor, which can be easily resolved. All you need to do is reinstall the Teckin app on your smartphone.

If this doesn’t work for you, we suggest you try resetting the smart plug to default factory settings. Now, to reset, you need to press and hold the power button down on your smart plug for about 10-15 seconds.

Next, you will see that the LED is flashing rapidly, which is your cue to release the button. After a while, the blinking will be slowed down, which will indicate that the device has been successfully reset.

4. Contact Customer Support

If the issue persists or there is some different issue that hasn’t been included in this list, the best option is to connect with the customer support team.

You may connect via call or a comprehensive email explaining the issues you are facing with the device, along with the troubleshooting steps you have already tried.

The support team will put the experts in the tasks and understand your issue in the shortest span. Once they spot the nature and cause of the problems you face, they will help you out in the best way possible.

It might be possible that your smart device is malfunctioning because the plug is faulty, in which case you will have to get it replaced with a new one.
